About the Theater

 

Alexander Kasser Theater is a part of the Montclair State University. It is a part of the College of Arts in the University. The theatre was inaugurated on October 7th in 2004, with legendary dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov being the first performer. Since its inception, the theatre has hosted more than 170 productions that have been acclaimed. More than 34 world premiere events have been held at this theatre.

 

The theatre has also seen more than 350 performances by students of the University. The students of music, dance, and theatre have performed in this acclaimed theatre, which has become a landmark in the city. It is no wonder that Tripadvisor lists a visit to this theatre as one of the top activities to do when you visit Montclair in New Jersey.

 

The theatre is known for its beautiful settings. It has stadium seating that makes the stage perfectly visible for all the attendees. People from all over the city and other places visit the theatre to attend shows by reputed artists. The theatre is handicapped-enabled, making it convenient for the physically disabled to attend shows.

 

The Kasser theatre was conceived as a venue to help students of the university showcase their talents, giving them a cultural opportunity. The theatre is named after the late Alexander Kasser, who created the Kasser Art Foundation. The theatre has the capacity to seat 500 people. The theatre features the Peak performance series of cultural events. These events were initiated and brought to life by Jedediah Wheeler, who had served as the Executive Director for Arts and Cultural programming.
